I have a mazda rx8 and a coil pack went bad and It caused my cataylic converter to get extremely hot because I was not burning all the fuel. I replaced all four coils, changed wires and plugs. Engine light came back on after codes were cleared. Is is common for a overheated cataylic converter to damage an oxygen sensor? Actually, what more commonly happens is that the excess heat in the catalytic converter can cause it to melt, degrading the performance of the converter and increasing emissions. It's possible but could be giving incorrect reading if converter had internal meltdown. That's usually what happens you cat. gets flooded out. Jaguar . How Often Should I Wax My Car?There is no one answer as to how often you should wax your car. Instead, it is important to understand the longevity of paint jobs does depend on waxing--and the more often, the better. Significance Wax protects car paint from the environment--moisture, particles, acid and oxidization. While the original protectant manufacturers apply doesn't last long, commercially available waxes do a good job maintaining color tone, depth and shine. Types Synthetic waxes offer basic protection and dry quicker, making them easier to apply. Carnauba and cleaner waxes demand more effort to apply but tend to be shinier and longer lasting. Cleaner wax can also help blur out scratches. Spray-on waxes are for quick looks-only shines. Identification Be aware of the environment where your car operates--the more pollution, exposure to sunshine, rain and particles, the more often a wax job is called for. If you car gets pelted with tree sap and bird droppings regularly, simple washing won't be enough. Time Frame For most people keen on maintaining a nice-looking car, a monthly wash and wax session is enough, with weekly washes in between. Identification It's easy to tell if a car is well-waxed. In addition to the obvious shine, water beads very distinctly on good wax, while on unwaxed cars, it tends to spread and splotch. Fresh wax also repels dust and particles, causing them to blow off. Considerations Waxing too often can lead to nasty-looking buildup and swirl marks. Don't spread too much of the paste around. ResourcesMeguiar's Information Page
Jaguar . The Best Way to Wax a CarWaxing your car is one of the best things you can do to protect the paint and finish. But did you know there are certain days that you should not wax your car? Taking a few precautions and steps prior to applying wax to your car can help extend the life of the wax and make your car's surface shine. Before Waxing The first step to waxing a car is actually washing it. Wash, rinse and dry the car to clean the surface of any dirt or debris. Park the car in the shade or out of direct sunlight. The best time to wax a car is when the temperature is between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is too hot the wax won't dry properly. If the temperature is too cool the wax becomes too hard to apply and spread evenly. After drying the car, use a clay bar and lubricant on the surface to remove all small particles or embedded metal or other contaminants. You won't be able to feel these things in the surface, but if left on the car they can eventually cause rust damage. Work in small areas, spraying the lubricant and rubbing back and forth with the clay bar. Wipe the area with a microfiber cloth and then move to another section. Repeat this until the entire car has been rubbed with the clay bar. Apply a lightly abrasive car polish with a dual action orbital polisher. Work the polisher back and forth and in small circular motions until the polish has been applied and worked into the car completely. The car should be clean and very shiny at this point. Applying the Wax Use a clean, damp sponge to apply a thin coat of pure carnuba wax. Pure carnuba wax is the best possible wax to put on your car. Use a thin coat, or even two thin coats, rather than one thick coat. A thick coat won't dry properly and will build up on the surface. Apply the wax by hand, working in small sections at a time. Apply the wax and work your way down the side of the car. Only let the wax stand for five minutes or less and then wipe it off with a clean, dry cotton cloth. You may not get the entire car done at one time. Work on one side at a time, applying the wax and then wiping it off before moving to another side. Once the car is completely waxed you should not need to wax it again for another few months. The driveshaft runs to the rear wheels of conventional rear-wheel-driven vehicles and ends in another set of gears called the differential. The differential turns the power of the engine and the transmission 90 degrees into the axles that connect the drive wheels of the car. Because on most vehicles, the axle is set at right angles to the driveshaft, you can see that the differential is really changing the direction of the power so that the drive wheels can turn. Chapter 9 looks at drive trains and transmissions in detail, and Chapter 17 helps you deal with them. Jaguar . What is the cylinder position on a 2000 MC SS?
Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. * Cars with front-wheel drive or with rear engines do not require drive- shafts because the power source is located right between the wheels that are going to drive the car. On these vehicles, the transmission and the differential are combined into a single unit called the transaxle, which connects directly to provide power to the drive wheels. 14.
